ACUTE SECURITY NOTICE: Phishing attacks on HHU mailboxes

Mails with supposed senders "IT-Helpdesk", "HHU-IT-Support", "ZIM Helpdesk HHU" and "HHU" are trying to obtain access data.

We are currently observing a wave of phishing e-mails with the request to verify the HHU access data via a link contained in the mail or to log into the e-mail account due to allegedly exceeding the storage space volume (quota).

This is an attempt by criminals to obtain the access data of HHU users. Do not click on the link contained in the message, but delete the mail.

Important:

  • Although the mail system does in fact send automated notification e-mails when mailboxes are full, these never contain a link!
  • These emails are never sent by or on behalf of the Helpdesk!

If you have already entered your access data on the linked page, please change your password immediately on the identity management page (idm.hhu.de) or inform the ZIM Helpdesk (Tel. 81-10111, e-mail: helpdesk@hhu.de)!

Please note the information on recognising phishing e-mails in our Wiki:
